meet the 2022-2023 SMS PTA executive committee

Tina Lin, President:

I have three boys: Peter (15 years old, 10th grade), Johnny (13 years old, 8th grade Popham) and Charlie (11 years old, 6th grade Butler). We moved to Heathcote in 2020 after 14.5 years in Fox Meadow. Prior to becoming a stay at home mom, I worked in finance. In my free time, I love to cook/bake/eat, Peloton, and travel with my family. I love being involved in my boys' schools and have served in the the following roles: Treasurer of the Scarsdale Congregational Church Nursery School, Co-President of the Board of Trustees of Kids BASE and the Little School, VP of After School Clubs at Fox Meadow, Secretary of the Fox Meadow PTA, Class Parent every year at Fox Meadow, PTC Co-Chair for After School Clubs and PTC Co-Chair for Fifth Grade Activities, Co-Chair Heathcote Book Fair and Co-Chair SMS Book Fair. I'm also active in the Junior League of Central Westchester Diaper Bank and a parent assistant coach for SYSC. My favorite SMS event is the student Multicultural Lunch because it exemplifies the generosity and diversity of our community...and the food is always delicious!

Emily Hira, President-Elect:

My husband Mohan and I live in Quaker Ridge with our three boys: Jackson (11yrs old - 6th grade Popham), Ryan (9yrs old - 3rd grade QRS), and Christopher (6yrs old - 1st grade QRS).  This will be my 1st year on the SMS PTA EC board. I previously served as the PTA President at Quaker Ridge Elementary School and also as VP of Programs there. At QRS, I currently co-chair the Community Service committee and the Learning to Look committee. I also sit on the Board of the Scarsdale Schools Education Foundation. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

Erika Rublin, Treasurer:

My husband and I have three boys: Daniel (a freshman in college), Adam (a junior at SHS) and Zachary (an eighth grader at Scarsdale Middle School in Butler House). I really enjoy being involved in the Scarsdale community!  Currently, I am the Treasurer of the League of Women Voters, on the Board of Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service and on the Scarsdale Bowl Committee. My favorite SMS event is the student Multicultural lunch. I love seeing the kids' excitement as they experience all the different foods.

Casey Klurfeld, Secretary:

My husband and I have two kids -- Zoe (a 6th grader in Butler) and Bennett (a recent SMS grad and current 9th grader). We are going on our 10th year living in Scarsdale, and I love being active and involved at school and in the community. I currently serve on the Advisory Council on Communications for the Village of Scarsdale and previously served on the Board of Scarsdale Little League, as the VP of Communications for the Quaker Ridge PTA, and have held various volunteer roles at Quaker Ridge over our many years at the school. I'm excited to get more involved at SMS over the next few years!

Amanda Zaitchik, VP of Hospitality:

I live in Fox Meadow with my husband, Rami, my daughter Arielle (10th grade SHS), my younger daughter Maya (7th grade Popham SMS) and our 6 year old "puppy," Sadie. I used to be a middle school and high school Social Studies teacher in NYC and left teaching and became a sleepaway camp consultant at Summer365. I work from home, and when I'm not on the phone or zooms with clients and camp directors, I spend time with family and friends, walk Sadie multiple times during the day, and participate in community service. When my girls were at Fox Meadow, I served on the Executive Board for six consecutive years and then was the 5th grade Activities Advisor. I am excited to spend time at SMS and plan social events for students and teacher appreciation events to show the community's gratitude towards the teachers and administration. Feel free to reach out with any suggestions!

Yuriy Grechukhin, VP of Membership and Student Directory:

My wife, daughter, and I moved to Scarsdale in 2013. Our daughter Alice is now in SMS (seventh grade Popham). Two years later, our son Eugene (a native Scarsdalian) was born. He is now a third grader in Greenacres. I'm a volunteer firefighter with the Scarsdale Fire Department, and I help organize elementary school visits and the Fire Fair. In my spare time I walk our dog Chase around Greenacres.

My husband and I have 2 children: Dylan (8th grade, Butler) and Lyla (4th grade at QRS).  We have lived in Quaker Ridge since 2019.  I have been involved at SMS on the Library Services Committee and as a volunteer at the book fair.  At QRS, I have co-chaired the 2nd/3rd grade school play, served as class parent, and volunteered for the book fair, teacher appreciation week, and the new parent welcome coffee.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, and traveling. My favorite SMS event is the book fair!
