SMS CommYOUnity Gives Thanks to Our SMS Staff!

A huge thank you to our SMS CommYOUnity for bringing in baked goods, bagels, pies, drinks and positive notes on the days before Thanksgiving. It was wonderful to have so many families participate and show the faculty and staff at Scarsdale Middle School just how much we appreciate all they do for the students and their families.

The shorter days and dipping temperatures that November brings allow for more time to engage in enriching indoor activities that get put on hiatus during the warmer months. Baking is a fun and delicious way to tap into our senses and create social connections.

Early Bird Sale of Parent Ads for SMS Yearbook 2022-2023 Ends Tonight!

Yearbook recognition ads are a great way for parents, families and friends to commemorate important milestones and to reflect upon the person your child has become. They are also a great way to highlight your student's musical, theatrical, academic or sports-related successes. Show your pride and support your school at the same time. Our ads are open to parents from all grades. We are partnering with Tribute Ads again this year to provide you with additional assistance in creating your ad. No materials will be accepted at the school. For instructions on how to create and purchase your ad, refer to the attached flyer. Tribute Ads will also be sending periodic reminder emails directly to you.

Due to numerous requests, this year you will have the opportunity to reserve up to ½ page in the book. The Early Bird sale is from now until 11/27/22.  You will still be able to design an ad after this date, but prices will increase after this date.

Click here for more yearbook information and click here for the 2023 personalization icons.

~ Questions on ordering? Please call 877-767-5217. For questions on content in the Yearbook, please email Andy Verboys.

Advent

Advent is a Christian holiday which has probably been celebrated since the 4th Century as written records in Spain and France show.  Present day Advent is typically celebrated the four Sundays before Christmas. An Advent wreath is used to symbolically commemorate newness, eternal life, and the death and resurrection of Christ.  Candles are lit every Sunday and prayers are recited in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

December 3rd  raises awareness about persons with disabilities in order to improve their lives and provide them with equal opportunity.

FINANCIAL AID - a note from meghan troy

The PTA and I would like to be sure that all children have the opportunity to take advantage of the wonderful extras the Middle School has to offer.

If your family’s financial situation makes it difficult for you to cover the cost of PTA membership, school supplies, after school clubs, or field trips, financial assistance is available to you.  Please contact your child's House Counselor to discuss: he or she will discuss the issue with me or the PTA President as necessary.  All communications will be held in the strictest confidence.
