NYS PTA Call to Action

In the wake of the recent gun violence in the Buffalo community as well as the horrific gun violence tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, NYS PTA has created a Call for Action:

Please contact your member of Congress and tell them the time for thoughts and prayers is over. The time for action is NOW. It is time to PROTECT OUR CHILDREN from gun violence.

NYS PTA asks that you take a moment to read some of these resources that may help you answer some of your child's questions. This is not an exhaustive list, but maybe you will find something helpful here:

NYS PTA has pulled together some of their POSITIONS ON SCHOOL SAFETY for your review. You can also read this new POLICY BRIEF from National PTA positions on this matter. Know that NYS PTA has reached out to our State Education Department leaders, to our Governor, and to our Senate and Assembly. NYS PTA has reminded them that they have a partner in PTA, in keeping our children safe. They also plan to continue to work to seek adequate mental health support for our youth, sufficient school safety initiatives, and closing of any loopholes in our protection laws here in NYS.

Here is the National PTA’s Call to Action!
